Slug bubble growth and dissolution by solute exchange

Mass transfer of gases in liquid solvents is a fundamental process during bubble generation for specific purposes or, vice versa, removal entrapped bubbles. In our work, we address the growth dynamics trapped slug vertical glass cylinder under water barrier after replacing ambient air atmosphere by CO${}_{2}$ at same or higher pressure. The asymmetric exchange gaseous solutes between CO${}_{2}$-rich and air-rich always results net growth, which call solute exchange. We compare explain experimental with simple numerical model, underlying mass transport processes are quantified.
